Flatland (Typographic Book)

Flatland
Typographic Book
This book is a response to a satirical novella entitled ‘Flatland’, written by Edwin A. Abbott. A board-based case is stitched to the pages and prevents them from getting damaged.

Colourful linear patterns cover each of the book’s signatures, which are coptic stitched together, to create an aesthetically interesting spine. The chapter names and numbers too are written on the spine of each signature.

The content of the book is made up of typographic art that relates to the narrative.

This project's patterned signatures were also an inspiration for a board created to showcase the book itself.
The chapter number determined the pattern used on the chapter's cover, therefore '2' would translate to straight lines, '3' to triangles, '4' to quadrilaterals and so on.
This project's patterned signatures were also an inspiration for a board created to showcase the book itself.
